Yeah I've always wondered about that place... I can almost see over if I stand on my tiptoes, but then they look at you funny like you're not supposed to see what's going on back there.
If you can't see them, then they can't really see what you're doing.
You should pull up a chair or table down out of sight, crouch down on it and then start to slowly rise up steadily, kind of like the Wayne's World elevator trick.
That would freak them out a bit.
